MTS TVs Video On Demand service delivers movies
to the best seat in the house: your couch
Winnipeg, June 28, 2005 MTS TV customers can use their remote control to order from a great selection of movie titles and other programs with the ability to watch them as many times as they want, whenever they want, now that MTS has launched its much anticipated Video On Demand (VOD) service. MTS has begun rolling out VOD in Winnipeg, and will continue to bring the service to more of its 40,000 plus MTS TV customers in stages in the coming weeks.
What could be more convenient for movie lovers than the ability to order a flick without leaving home, by pressing a few buttons on their TV remote to view high-quality entertainment, says Cheryl Barker, President MTS (Manitoba). Our customers will now be able to order movies on their own schedule, and view them as often as theyd like within a 24-hour period.
With the new Video On Demand service, MTS TV customers can:
- Pause, rewind, fast-forward, stop and play the movie using the MTS TV remote control no extra equipment required.
- Watch free movie trailers to help in deciding what to watch before making their selection.
- Enjoy pricing thats similar to prices in video rental stores ranging from $0.99 for kids programs to $4.99 for new releases --with the added convenience of selecting these movies with your remote control and starting to watch them instantly without having to leave the house. All VOD charges are conveniently included on the monthly MTS bill.
We are thrilled to be able to partner with Twentieth Century Fox as we launch our highly-anticipated Video On Demand service and we plan to add several more major studios to that list this fall, said Barker.
We are excited to be a part of MTSs innovative on demand platform. It represents another excellent avenue for consumers to enjoy Fox movies in the comfort of their home, said Jamie McCabe, Senior Vice President, Worldwide PPV & VOD, Twentieth Century Fox. Some of the latest movies from Twentieth Century Fox available on VOD include KINSEY starring Liam Neeson and Laura Linney, ELEKTRA starring Jennifer Garner, and SIDEWAYS starring Paul Giamatti and Thomas Haden Church.
In addition to VOD, MTS is also adding new features to the MTS TV portal, providing more access to local information such as weather, airport arrivals and departures, school/garbage day, horoscopes and more, at no extra charge. All of these new features, in addition to existing exclusive content including MTS Centre On Demand and MTS Games On Demand, are accessible through the MTS TV remote control.
MTS also recently introduced its new bundle plans which provide customers with the ability to mix and match from some of MTSs most popular communications services: High Speed Internet, cellular, and MTS TV. MTS customers across the province can choose any two of these services and save $10 per month or choose all three, and save $15 per month.
