News Broadband Week Concurrent Continues VOD March
March 21, 2001 - Can you hear the chant "WE want our VOD?" Concurrent Computer Corp. sure hopes you can. The video-on0demand supplier is teaming with Pace Micro Technology pic to VOD services to customers the world over. I an effort to appeal to the widest audience, Concurrent has integrated its MedialHawk Broadband VOD system with Paces digital home gateways, which will enable content to be delivered over hybrid fiber coax, DSL and ATM transport networks. Th system can be integrated with the set-top box middleware, conditional access systems, electronic program guides and interactive television applications. The two companies expect o market their pen standards technology in North America, Europe and Asia. Earlier this month, Concurrent aligned with global VOD content provider Federal Hill Communications to deliver on-demand services to clients on a worldwide basis. Under the agreement Federal Hill s negotiating and licensing Hollywood movies and ancillary entertainment content on behalf Concurrents international clients. The Street is cheering Concurrents VOD efforts; the companys stock price was up more than 9 percent $5.19 a share as of 1:16 p.m. EST.
